Botox is one of the most commonly used cosmetic products (more than 5 million injections in the USA alone in 2011). Botox is given to relax the muscles and diminish the wrinkles in your forehead, and smile lines. Botox starts taking effect in about 3 days, maximum effect is reached in 10-14 days. It lasts anywhere between 3-6 months, depending on the amount injected, the size of the muscles and areas injected. Areas that tend to move more, like around the eyes, recover faster than more stable areas like the top of the forehead.

Below are some important tips to make the recovery as smooth as possible:

• Avoid any activities that increase the pressure in your face in the few hours after the injection, like heavy lifting, bending or straining. This is to minimize the chance of bruising.
• Use the icepacks on the areas injected to minimize bruising for the next couple hours.
• You may notice drops of blood at the puncture sites. You can wipe them with a clean wet sponge.
• You do not have to move your muscles in any certain way.
• Some swelling is normal, but should subside within a couple hours.
• You may wear makeup after your treatment. Always make sure to wear a medical grade sunscreen.

UV Sport Broad-Spectrum SPF 50 offers UVA/UVB protection with a 9% zinc oxide formula. It can be used on wet or dry skin (great for swimmers and other outdoor athletes), is safe for children, and is water resistant. This formula is also fragrance- and paraben-free.

UV Daily Broad-Spectrum SPF 40 has UVA/UVB protection with a 9% zinc oxide formula in a light daily facial moisturizer. It can be used alone or with makeup, and is quickly absorbed by the skin. The product also contains hyaluronic acid to decrease the appearance of fine lines and increase skin smoothness. It is fragrance- and paraben-free.

PM Therapy Facial Moisturizer is an overnight moisturizer that repairs and rejuvenates skin while you sleep. It contains ceramides, which strengthen the moisture barrier of the skin. Antioxidants in the formula improve and even out skin tone while rice protein peptides stimulate cell growth and improve collagen formation, which in turn improves skin elasticity. The skin will look more even, more rejuvenated, and have a decreased appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It is safe for all skin types.

As we age our faces sag, like pretty much everything else in our bodies, however we age differently and some people benefit from surgery more than others. Face and neck lift are not a magic cure for aging and they work best if used correctly on the right patient. Look in the mirror and see if you have the following signs

1-    Jowels: The skin of the face is attached to deeper structures through ligaments (the blue circles). These ligaments do not stretch as much as skin does, so as the skin sags behind these tight ligaments jowels are formed (black arrows). These jowels can dramatically improve with mini Face Lift. This is done through a cut hidden in front of and behind the ears.

2-    Platysmal bands: as we get older a very thin muscle (platysma) thickens and sags causing 2 bands in the neck (yellow triangles) these can be improved by tying the two parts of the muscle together through a face/neck lift. This is done through a small cut (1 inch) hidden under your chin.
