5 Most Common Non Invasive Cosmetic and Plastic Surgery Procedures

Cosmetic and plastic surgery procedures saw massive growth in 2015.

According to a statistical report, Americans spent more than $13.5 billion on surgical and nonsurgical procedures in 2015 – and increase of $1.5 billion dollars from the year before. Isn’t that amazing!

It just goes to show that cosmetic and plastic surgery procedures are incredibly popular.

Non invasive cosmetic and plastic surgery procedures accounted for 42% of the annual spendings, which shows that non invasive procedures are growing in popularity also.

According to the report, the top 5 most commonly used procedures are:

  1. “Botulinum toxin, the generic name for the main ingredient in Botox injections (4,267,038 procedures)
  2. Hyaluronic acid (2,148,326 procedures)
  3. Hair removal (1,136,834 procedures)
  4. Chemical peel (603,305 procedures)
  5. Microdermabrasion (557,690 procedures)”

5 Most Common Non Invasive Cosmetic and Plastic Surgery Procedures

Botox

According to the report, “Botox injections amounted to more than $5 billion for the first time ever.”

Injections of botox are used to soften moderate to severe facial wrinkles and can be a great part of

your regular anti-aging treatment. Botox relaxes the facial muscles that you use most often so those

deep lines never develop in the first place, which is why it makes a great preventative treatment.

It’s most commonly used on the wrinkles between the eyebrows. But it’s also useful for forehead creases, crow’s feet, and other wrinkles of the upper part of the face. Regular botox treatments can help you avoid plastic surgery facelifts.

Hyaluronic acid

Hyaluronic acid is one of the commonly used dermal fillers.

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance found in human connective tissues, and around the eyes. When used as a cosmetic injectable (dermal filler), hyaluronic acid acts as a cushion that inflates the tissues, while simultaneously drawing water to the surface of the skin. It can be used in the cheek areas to replace lost fat that is leaving you looking tired and gaunt, and can also be used to fill in lines, wrinkles, and folds. For example, the lines that run from the nose to the mouth (nasolabial lines).

Hair removal

People simply don’t want to be bothered with shaving and waxing anymore. And why should they when there is laser hair removal to remove unwanted hair forever!

Laser hair removal uses a pulsating light that passes through the skin to individual hair follicles. This ultra hot laser damages the hair follicles it permeates and limits or eliminates future hair growth.

Laser hair removal is often a process of six to eight treatments. All the treatments are required to achieve an 80-90% reduction in hair regrowth. However, initial results can be seen as soon as after the first treatment.

Chemical peel

According to WebMD, “Chemical peels can improve the skin’s appearance. In this treatment, a chemical solution is applied to the skin, which makes it “blister” and eventually peel off. The new skin is usually smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin.”

As you can imagine, a chemical peel is quite harsh on the skin – being that it is ‘chemicals.’

Because it is such a harsh treatment, people can also have reactions – leaving them in pain, bandaged, and having to avoid the sun for weeks or sometimes months. This is why we use the Nano Laser Peel instead. The treatment is better than a chemical peel with minimal pain and an excellent result. The Nano Laser Peel helps to smooth and improve the overall skin tone and treat sun damage and age spots.

Microdermabrasion

If you can imagine putting a sander to work on your skin, that’s exactly what a microdermabrasion treatment does. Using a special instrument, the treatment sands the skin with tiny exfoliating crystals to make way for a new layer of smoother skin to grow.

According to WebMD, “Dermabrasion was developed to improve acne scars, pox marks, and scars from accidents or disease. It’s not effective in treating congenital skin defects, most moles, pigmented birthmarks, or scars caused by burns. “

‘Micro’ – dermabrasionis less aggressive than dermabrasion, which is why it is so popular.

At NOVA Plastic Surgery, we don’t offer microdermabrasion procedures because we’ve found that the the Nano Laser Peel is far more effective. Therefore, we use the Nano Laser Peel treatment because it is better than both a chemical peel or microdermabrasion with minimal pain and an excellent result.
