Drooping, saggy skin is just one of the components of facial aging (the other two being skin texture changes and volume loss), but it is often the most noticeable and the most frustrating. Excess skin cannot be treated with creams or over-the-counter remedies. Mild droopiness can be treated with non-surgical cosmetic procedures, but for dramatic results you will need to turn to cosmetic surgery.
Many people immediately think of a facelift when theyre looking for a solution to sagging facial skin; however, if your problem is localized to one area, there is probably another solution for you. Sagging skin on the brow doesnt require a full facelift surgery- you can treat it with a localized brow lift.
What is a Brow Lift?
A brow lift, also known as a forehead lift, is a surgical procedure for lifting a heavy brow. This will remove deep horizontal creases above the eyes, furrows between the eyes, and excess skin that is drooping over the eyebrows. When combined with eyelid surgery, all excess skin that is impairing vision can be removed.

How is it Different From a Facelift?
A traditional facelift involves lifting all the skin and tissues of the face, from the jaw to the hairline. A brow lift is localized to the forehead, so if you dont have issues with the rest of the face you can concentrate just on the problem area. There are a few different types of brow lift, but they all involve a shorter recovery time than a full traditional facelift.

What is Recovery Like?
Most patients will be able to return to normal (not strenuous) activity after ten days, including going back to work. The recovery is comparable to a mini facelift- some swelling and bruising, and youll be able to shower normally after 48 hours. The tissues of the brow will continue settling for a few months after the surgery, but your results will be final after four to six months.

Can I Combine it With Other Procedures?
Absolutely! A brow lift is a perfect complementary procedure for Botox injections, dermal filler injections, and eyelid surgery. Your plastic surgeon will help you decide which procedures, if any, should accompany the brow lift. Your surgeon will also recommend facial skin care products that will help you maintain your post-operative appearance.
