Who Can Get Laser Resurfacing?

Anyone get use laser resurfacing to improve their skin, however if you have a darker complexion you might be at risk for pigmentation changes. Your plastic surgeon will let you know if laser resurfacing is right for you.

 

How Long Does Laser Resurfacing Take?

That depends on the size of the treatment area. Some patients only have a specific, small area treated (like an age spot), while others are using laser resurfacing to rejuvenate their entire face. So, the procedure can take anywhere from a few minutes to more than an hour.

 

Does Laser Resurfacing Hurt?

There might be some discomfort, but your surgeon will provide you with local anesthesia to help make you comfortable. For more extensive laser resurfacing, general anesthesia might be necessary- the level of numbing youre given will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

 

How Long Is The Recovery?

Youll have some swelling, tenderness, and peeling in the first few days afterwards. Youll notice that your skin is pink and thin, and it will fade to a normal color over the next few weeks. Youll need to wear sunscreen for about two weeks after the procedure. Most patients can go back to their normal routine ten days to two weeks after the procedure.

 

Do I Need To Get Laser Resurfacing Done Over and Over?

The results of your laser resurfacing will last a long time, but the procedure doesnt stop normal aging. You might re-develop wrinkles or age spots naturally, at which point you can repeat the procedure. Being diligent with your after-care and sunscreen use can help prolong the look of your results.
