PRF Facial Rejuvenation
Facial Rejuvenation with platelet-rich fibrin (PRF)
While using PRF cosmetically is relatively new, it has been used for years in orthopedic surgery, reconstructive surgery, and dentistry. The platelet rich fibrin has high concentrations of platelets and growth factors that stimulate stem cells to help the body regenerate and heal at a faster rate. PRF injections also aid in remodeling the extracellular matrix and induces the synthesis of collagen which is essential for skin rejuvenation.
PRF Facial Rejuvenation Benefits
PRF for facial rejuvenation can improve a variety of cosmetic concerns organically using a unique mixture from a patient’s own blood in areas that can often be difficult to treat with other non-surgical options.
It improves overall skin texture, decreases the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and plumps hollowing areas such as under eye grooves and cheeks. PRF can also improve the appearance of acne scars and decrease the signs of aging in the neck and hands. The PRF facial can be used on its own or combined with laser, Botox and/or fillers.
Overview of Treatment
PRF Facial Rejuvenation takes about an hour to complete. A numbing cream is applied on the area to be treated to minimize discomfort during the procedure. Next, a few vials of blood are drawn and centrifuged until they contain a layer of concentrated plasma rich cells, platelets and growth factors. This layer is then extracted and injected into the skin using very fine needles while the Zimmer Chiller directs cold air over the treatment area to further minimize patient discomfort. Patients typically experience a mild stinging sensation during the procedure which resolves promptly upon completion of the treatment.
Injecting PRF directly into the tissue allows your body to absorb and utilize all the benefits of the extracted platelet rich plasma. When this treatment is done with micro-needling, a significant portion of the PRF ends up just sitting on the outside surface of the skin.

Unlike filler, PRF Facial Rejuvenation is organically stimulating your body’s own collagen production to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, as well as plump areas that have lost volume and hollowed. It takes about three months for maximum collagen regeneration to occur. Most patients notice an improvement in their skin texture in the first month after the treatment. It is recommended to have 2-3 treatments spaced at 8-week intervals. The results of PRF facial rejuvenation are long term with most patients receiving touch up treatments at one year to further stimulate collagen production and continued facial rejuvenation.
If patients are looking for a more immediate improvement, we can combine the benefits of the PRF facial rejuvenation with Botox, fillers and laser skin resurfacing.
Risks and Recovery
PRF Facial Rejuvenation is one of the lowest risk treatments to improve the signs of mild to moderate aging because the treatment involves injecting a substance sourced from your own body.
This organic procedure eliminates the risk of allergic reaction, sensitivity and infection that may occur with other anti-aging procedures.
Mild injection site bruising, swelling or redness can occur but usually resolves after 3-7 days following the procedure and may be safely concealed with make-up shortly after the treatment. It is recommended that patients start taking Arnica, a homeopathic medication that naturally decreases bruising and swelling following procedures.
PRF Facial Rejuvenation is an effective, organic anti-aging treatmentused to decrease the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, restore volume to hollowed areas under the eyes and cheeks, and improve the overall appearance of the skin. Unlike Botox and filler, PRF will stimulate your own body to replace collagen offering a long-term solution for anti-aging.
