What is a MicroLaser Peel?

MicroLaser Peel NOVA Plastic SurgeryA MicroLaser Peel uses laser to remove a thin layer of damaged skin, encouraging the growth of collagen. This leads to improved skin texture and a more youthful appearance. After a laser peel, the thin layer of damaged skin will be gone and it will be replaced with smooth, tight skin. MicroLaser Peels provide the best results because it can be custom tailored to your specific skin conditions and desired outcome.

How does MicroLaser Peel work?

MicroLaser Peel works with the use of an Erbium laser. The laser beam is scanned over the skin and removes a very thin layer. An erbium laser, produces wavelength energy that is absorbed by the water in the skin cells. Erbium lasers are most commonly used to treat mild to moderate wrinkles on the face, neck, chest, and other areas of the body. This laser causes less redness and irritation than a CO2 laser, so you have less downtime.

Removing the top layer of the skin removes some of the damaged cells that cause wrinkles, sun damage, and other imperfections. As the skin heals, fresh cells grow and resurface the treated area. The result of a MicroLaser Peel treatment is smoother, healthier looking skin with reduced wrinkles.

How many treatments are needed?

Some patients see results after just one treatment, however the number of treatments can vary from person to person. Your provider will discuss with you a treatment plan based on the results that you are looking to obtain. A MicroLaser Peel can also be combined with BBL treatments for optimal results.

What happens during the procedure?

During the treatment, your treatment area will be wiped clean and your eyes will be shielded from the laser with safety glasses. The provider holds the hand piece over the treatment area as the scanner moves the laser beam. The procedure usually takes about 15 to 30 minutes depending on the size of the treatment area.

How long does it take to recover?

The recovery from a MicroLaser Peel takes longer than recovery from a BBL phototherapy treatment. You will experience redness and some flaking for the first few days. Each patient recovers at their own speed, but most people are ready to return to work within 3 to 4 days. You have the option of purchasing some of our skincare products in order to help care for your skin in the recovery period.
